Leon began his career as a consulting civil engineer in 1986 and has over 35 years’ experience in the construction industry. He joined Group Five in 1993, progressing to director roles in residential and infrastructure developments, where he was responsible for over 2,000 residential units and major infrastructure projects.

He then spent 9 years at Aveng (Africa) Ltd, including as regional director of Grinaker-LTA Concessions, overseeing project development, finance, and operations for infrastructure and office accommodation, as well as negotiating renewable energy contracts. At AECOM, he served 6 years as contracts executive managing contract administration on various infrastructure projects.

For the past 5 years, Leon has specialised in alternative dispute resolution, acting as arbitrator, adjudicator, mediator, and DAB member on local and international projects. He is experienced with FIDIC, GCC, NEC, and JBCC contracts.

Leon is a Fellow of the Association of Arbitrators (Southern Africa) and is listed on both the SAICE and FIDIC President’s Lists of ADR Practitioners.
